Victrix Command Stands for Hail Caesar

It is a good thing to receive input from others. As much as I have tried to figure out Impetus, I just wasn't getting it. A couple of followers suggested Hail Caesar. I had the rules already and had played in 15mm. I didn't think my basing would work, but I was wrong. Therefore, I am taking a second look at Hail Caesar in 28mm. I knew that I would need command bases, so over the weekend I scrounged around some old Victrix frames I had kept and found a host of unused figures. I have turned them into Republican Roman and Carthaginian command stands. I am pleased with how they turned out. What do you think?

I got my entire collection of Victrix ancients out on the table. I am trying to learn the Impetus rules, but I have to say it isn't coming easily to me. But I really like how the bases are done, so I will keep at it for awhile longer.

Making the Most of this Sheltering in Place

These are certainly strange times, but as the weeks crawl by I believe many of us are finding constructive ways to put the spare time to good use. For me, I have been able to complete paperwork for my retirement in June. I have also picked up some commission work which has been fun.

Yesterday I finished painting up 96 Elite British Napoleonics plus a mounted officer:

I also based some Macedonian pikemen.

And finally, I finished a couple of battalions for my own collection. These are the two regiments of the Garde du Paris.

Today I am working on some Spartan light infantry to round out that collection on this rainy day in Southern California. A blessed Holy Week to you all!

Weekend Doings During the Lockdown

Well, I consider myself fortunate to have a very enjoyable hobby I can turn to in times like these. After attending church via the internet, I spent some time out on my deck soaking up some much needed sunshine and basing these new additions to my ancients collection. I also took some time to do an inventory on my 28mm Napoleonic collection while it was all still out on the table.

That is over 2,400 figures in total. Now I know. And I am working on 150 more now. It never ends.
