Flags of War

It has been said that bases, faces and flags are what make the real difference in the visual appeal of a wargames army. Having completed my Jacobite collection, I am now trying to add some touches to make it truly outstanding. The first step was to add some foliage to many of the bases. I will continue to work on this in the future. The second improvement was to place an order with Flags of War. These paper flags are pretty expensive, but they add so much visual appeal to the regiments. My mminiatures are 25mm and the flags are designed for 28mm. They are larger than I'd like, but once they are folded into more realistic shapes they look ok. If nothing else, you can clearly see the incredible individual details on the devices. I followed the suggestion of others that have used the flags to paint the borders of the reverse side of each flag in a slightly darker shade. This worked out well to eliminate the white that sometimes is created by slight overlaps when gluing the standart around the flag pole. As expensive as the flags were, I was pleasantly surprised that the shipping from the UK was just $5.00. That took a bit out of the sting of taking this leap.
